5 Part Series 🫚 2026 🌿
The Free Jing Fang Intro Course 2026 🌿 is a five-part online lecture series designed to introduce practitioners and students to the foundations of classical formula-based medicine 📚. Rooted in the traditions of the Shang Han Lun and Jing Fang lineage, this course explores how clinical effectiveness arises from precise pattern differentiation and the correct use of classical formulas ⚖️.
Across the series, you will explore key topics including the role of dosage and substance (such as ginger) 🫚, the treatment of common presentations like constipation and morning sickness 🤰, the historical development and modern revival of Jing Fang 🏛️, and the practical process of selecting formulas through real case analysis 🧠.
Clear, structured, and clinically focused, this course offers a direct entry into a system of medicine that prioritises accuracy, simplicity, and results ✨.
Part 1
🫚 Ginger in Jing Fang : Quantity and Function
Date: August 17th 2026 (Monday)
Time: 7:00 PM (GMT+1) 1 hour
This session focuses on the use of ginger in Jing Fang, highlighting how different forms and quantities produce different clinical effects. Rather than viewing ginger as a general warming herb, the lecture examines how dosage determines function within classical formulas, from harmonising the middle to restoring Yang. The session emphasises the importance of precision in both herb choice and dosage.
Part 2
🤰Treating Morning Sickness with Jing Fang
Date: September 22nd 2026 (Tuesday)
Time: 7:00 PM (GMT+1) · 1 hour
This lecture examines morning sickness through classical Chinese medicine, where nausea in pregnancy is understood as Stomach Qi rebellion. The session introduces how Jing Fang formulas address this pattern by restoring the descending function of the Stomach while protecting fluids. Emphasis is placed on classical thinking, safety, and appropriate formula use during pregnancy.
Part 3
📜 The History of Jing Fang and Its Revival
Date: October 19th 2026 (Monday)
Time: 7:00 PM (GMT+1) 1 hour
This session traces the historical development of Jing Fang from the classical texts through its suppression in the mid-20th century and its modern revival. We will examine the impact of the Cultural Revolution on traditional medical lineages and the creation of Traditional Chinese Medicine in the 1960s under Mao Zedong. The lecture explores how contemporary practitioners are returning to classical formula-based medicine and pattern differentiation.
Part 4
💩 Constipation in Jing Fang: Deficiency and Excess
Date: November 17th, 2026 (Tuesday)
Time: 7:00 PM (GMT) · 1 hour
This session explores constipation from a classical Jing Fang perspective, focusing on the essential distinction between deficiency and excess patterns. Using Ma Zi Ren Wan and Da Cheng Qi Tang as key examples, participants will learn how similar symptoms arise from very different internal conditions, and how correct formula selection depends on understanding underlying dynamics rather than treating constipation as a single disorder.
Part 5
⚖️ Jing Fang Case Study : How to Choose a Formula
Date: December 7th, 2026 (Monday)
Time: 7:00 PM (GMT) 1 hour
This practical session presents a Jing Fang case study to demonstrate how formulas are selected based on classical pattern recognition. Participants will be guided through the reasoning process used to assess signs and symptoms, identify the underlying pattern, and choose an appropriate formula. The focus is on clinical thinking rather than disease naming, showing how Jing Fang theory is applied in practice.
